Yeah, so this is my first journal entry, as stated in the header. In order to break the ice, I figured I would share some incredibly intelligent thoughts with you. Bananas. Ice Cream. Communism on the playground. Okay, now that we've broken the ice, I'll continue to myself. Names Joshua, age 19, Soldier in the United States Army. No, that doesn't mean I'm a Marine, a Seamen(Aha), or a grunt. Too many people think that every branch in the military is the same. But oh well. Before I was posted at Ft. Lewis, I resided in Connecticut, a great little state in the Northeast, or the "New England" area.
Moving on. I've been Designing for oh, maybe 3 years now? Just about. I started using Adobe programs in high school in a Communications class. When I learned of the beauty of 30-day Trials, I tried my hand at Photoshop more and more. I expanded to Dreamweaver, Flash, and I even use Notepad, as retro as it is. I favor Digital Art, such as Vector, Skinning, Interface, and basic Design.
In my spare time I like to chill out, ruck march, run, play games, chat, talk to friends and family, listen to music, etc. Right now I'm studying Arabic and Fiber Optics, although it's going along slowly. Onto current news. I've been rucking for the past couple weeks now trying to build up. I don't know why. I guess I just want to be more fit. I want to get a RIP contract, but I would have to change my Military Occupational Specialty as well as raise my PT score a lot, both of which are a bit difficult to do when you haven't even been in for a year. For those of you who don't know what a RIP contract is, I'll explain. Contracts let you go to Schools such as Airborne, RIP, Selection(Special Forces), Air Assault, etc. In order for you to get contracts, you normally have to impress your unit enough for them to pay for it. A RIP contract allows you to attend selection to become a Ranger. The simplest way I can explain is that they're Elite Infantry. If you want to know more about that, then wiki it. I'll just tell you that it's a very difficult and painful process.
I guess that's it for now. I know I barely have any work up right now, but I just created this username as I haven't used my other one in a while and I wanted a fresh start. I'm normally on MSN during the weekends, so feel free to hit me up if you wish. Have a great day and look out for new Deviations from me in the coming weeks.
Hooah, Sommer
